Rose (formerly Flower) is a Lizardfolk monk and barbarian who founded the settlement of Rose’s Corner on the continent of Ofica. A Warrior of the Open Hand with two levels of barbarian training, she is known for her supernatural punching power, a gift granted by a wish she claimed from a gemstone in a beholder’s lair. She lives on a houseboat shared with fellow adventurers and serves as something of a local anchor for those who pass through her Corner’s teleport circle.

Background

Rose was originally known as Flower. The circumstances of her name change are not widely documented, but she has gone by Rose for as long as most of her associates have known her. She carries herself with the bearing of minor nobility, a background reflected in her fine clothes, calligrapher’s supplies, and facility with social graces despite a blunt and physical disposition.

Her early adventuring career culminated in a solo infiltration of a cave system guarded by a beholder, where she discovered a gemstone capable of granting a wish. Rose obtained the wish before the beholder detected her, and in the confrontation that followed, both the gemstone and the beholder were destroyed. Her wish, spoken plainly, was for “the strongest punches in the land.”

The Wish

The gemstone granted Rose’s wish literally: her unarmed strikes carry supernatural force that scales with her growing power. The effect manifests as additional force damage proportional to twice her current level of experience, layered on top of her already considerable martial arts training. At her current level of advancement, this translates to a significant amplification of each blow. Rose has lately shown more interest in greatsword technique than in leveraging her fists, though the wish’s gift remains potent regardless of her shifting preferences.

Abilities

Rose fights primarily as a Warrior of the Open Hand, supplemented by barbarian instincts that grant her danger sense, reckless aggression, and unarmored resilience. Her Lizardfolk physiology gives her a natural bite attack, hungry jaws capable of restoring her vitality, a swimming speed equal to her land speed, and the ability to hold her breath for extended periods. Her natural armor provides a baseline of protection even without equipment.

She possesses a feature known as Honeyed Words, tied to a Dark Bargain of unclear origin. Through it, Rose can speak with such persuasive sweetness that a creature within earshot may become charmed for up to a day, following her commands as long as they do not require self-harm. Targets that resist or find her commands objectionable can attempt to break free. This ability comes paired with a Solitary Weakness: when Rose begins her turn with no allies nearby, she loses any temporary fortitude she has built up and struggles to focus.

Her Street Justice training gives her expertise in grappling and restraint. Allies fighting creatures she has locked down gain advantage, and bindings she ties are notably harder to escape. Hostile creatures find it difficult to intimidate her in conversation.

Current Status

Rose resides on her houseboat at Rose’s Corner, a tiny settlement she founded on Ofica. The settlement consists of the houseboat itself, a tavern, and a teleport circle that connects it to the wider world. She shares the houseboat with a rotating group of fellow adventurers who use the Corner as a home base between their own quests.

Rose has not yet appeared in the Sunday campaign sessions but is expected to debut as a guest character.

Personality

Rose is Lawful Good with a devotion to justice. She combines the physical directness common to Lizardfolk with a surprising social charm, capable of honeyed persuasion one moment and bone-crushing grapples the next. She speaks Common and Common Sign Language. Her interests include birdpipes, dice, and calligraphy, pursuits that sit alongside her martial training without apparent contradiction.
