Kraken of the Emerald Sea
The Storm Kraken is a kraken dwelling in the deep waters of the Emerald Sea. It has not been seen at the surface in a generation. Sailors who remember the last sighting, or who inherited the stories from those who do, associate it with violent electrical storms: when the Kraken breaches, lightning follows. Some say the lightning of the storm is its cruel ally.
Characteristics
The Storm Kraken possesses resistance to lightning damage, an unusual trait among its kind. Whether this resistance is innate or a product of long exposure to the electrical storms that accompany its movements is unknown. The storms that herald its surface activity are severe enough to scatter fleets and have contributed to the creature’s near-mythical status among coastal populations.
Recent Activity
The Kraken was hunting in the deeper waters of the Emerald Sea in 409 TC when an engine discharge from a Solanari Dominion submersible struck it during the vessel’s descent, drawing it off its prey and onto the vessel. The submersible was destroyed shortly afterward. The Kraken withdrew from the area, and its current location is unknown.
