We were simple poppy farmers, but bandits were always lurking. One afternoon, Sun and I were returning from fishing at the river, all we saw was smoke. The house was gone, and so were our parents…

Before running off to the nearest, well, anywhere, I could see the bandits carrying a trunk out of the fiery remains of our home. Weird thing, I never saw it before in my life!!

Personal history

My parents were killed when I was 10. My sister, Sun, was only 5. After escaping, we found ourselves at some sort of church, but more like a village. They were all very nice and welcoming. They offered us shelter and protection while they figured where we could stay.

It took a day or so, but we soon realized that there weren’t any women here. They were called Shaolin Monks. Odd at first, but we soon came to understand and appreciate their ways, except that they wouldn’t allow Sun to stay long term.

However, they did know of a place, a place very much like this, but for females. Because of the remote location, it took some time to make contact and arrangements. Sun was able to stay with me for 2 whole years. During which time I began my “training” and was given my new name. Thundering Baboon. That’s also when her nickname started. lol

After she left, we were able to write each a couple times. I don’t know if she never got my last letters, or something happened, but it’s been almost 2 years now since I’ve heard anything…

Recently, I’ve been training with an old Wizard. Oddly, I bumped into him, or he into me, while out hunting. Weird man by the name of Lu Dingshe . He’s mastered brewing, and somehow it actually aids in his kung fu! Every time I bring his name up at the temple, the monks just scoff and shrug and make jokes. They won’t ever tell me what’s up, and neither will Lu.
