In Bytopia, hard work is joy, kindness is the common language, and the fruits of labor are shared in harmonious abundance.

Bytopia, known as the Twin Paradises, is an outer plane of lawful good and neutral good alignment where industriousness is the highest virtue and kindness pervades every interaction. The plane consists of two layers, Dothion and Shurrock, each visible from the other: looking up from either layer reveals the opposing landscape hanging overhead like a celestial mirror.

Geography

Dothion, the first layer, is a pastoral landscape of rolling farmland and quaint villages. The fields are perpetually ripe with bountiful harvests, and the air carries the sound of cheerful labor. The inhabitants, mainly gnomes and halflings, work the land with evident satisfaction, their communities organized around the shared fruits of honest work.

Shurrock, the second layer, is a rugged wilderness of towering mountains and dense forests. Its inhabitants meet the challenges of the wild with courage and determination, and every peak scaled and river crossed reflects the indomitable spirit of the plane.

The ethos of hard work and shared kindness permeates every aspect of life in Bytopia. Inhabitants live in close-knit communities where everyone contributes and everyone shares in what is produced.

Ecosystem Cycles

Each layer maintains its own cycle, though the two are subtly interconnected.

In Dothion, the cycle of life is a constant rhythm of sowing and reaping. The seasons are predictable and mild, ensuring a reliable supply of food and resources. The inhabitants’ farming practices are sustainable and respectful of the natural balance.

Shurrock presents a cycle of survival and adaptation. The towering mountains and dense forests dictate the rhythm of life, with inhabitants adapting to harsher seasons through hunting, gathering, and crafting. Winters are severe and summers hot, but the plane’s inhabitants meet these conditions with resourcefulness.

The bountiful harvests of Dothion provide food and resources for Shurrock, while raw materials and crafted goods from Shurrock supply the markets of Dothion. This exchange is as much a sharing of experiences as a trade of goods.

Localized Phenomena

The Harmonious Harvest. In Dothion, entire communities periodically come together to reap collectively. The fields glow with a golden hue during these times, and the harvest functions as both communal labor and celebration.

The Resilient Bloom. Despite Shurrock’s harsh conditions, the layer’s flora periodically erupts in a vibrant display of color, a phenomenon reflecting the resilience and adaptability of life on the plane.

The Twin Aurora. The most spectacular phenomenon in Bytopia: the sky of each layer lights up with a dazzling display of lights that mirrors the other, creating a breathtaking spectacle of symmetry visible from both layers.

Optional Rule: Pervasive Goodwill

At the end of each long rest taken on this plane, a visitor that is neither lawful good nor neutral good must make a DC 10 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature’s alignment changes to lawful good or neutral good (whichever is closer to the creature’s current alignment). The change becomes permanent if the creature does not leave the plane within 1d4 days. Otherwise, the creature’s alignment reverts to normal after one day spent on a plane other than Bytopia. Casting the dispel evil and good spell on the creature also restores its original alignment.
