The Mountain Spirit Trading Company (山灵贸易公司 — Shān líng màoyì gōngsī) is a sprawling merchant institution founded by a wandering Tatharian trader along the Trail of Spiders. What began as a single hand-pulled cart has grown into a structured corporation with five professional divisions serving merchants, adventurers, scholars, artists, and administrators across the trading world.

Overview

Founded by a lost Tatharian merchant who left Shamsi-Adad to trade and wander along the Trail of Spiders, the largest and busiest trade route in the world, the Mountain Spirit Trading Company grew from humble origins into an institution of professionalism. While the founder never found his way back to Shamsi-Adad, his hard work and luck paid off: the small merchant cart he hand-pulled hundreds of miles through every climate imaginable became the seed of an enduring enterprise.

Today, the company is divided into five Divisions. The Merchant Division (商户部 — Shānghù bù) provides all manner of services for member merchants and craftsmen. The Security Division (保安处 — Bǎo’ān chù) is a premier guild of adventurers, mercenaries, and wandering knights for hire. In the vaults below the headquarters, the Archeology Division (考古科 — Kǎogǔ kē) studies ancient artifacts and investigates rumors of magic. One section of those same vaults is reserved for the Arts and Culture Division (艺术文化科 — Yìshù wénhuà kē), a guild of artists, writers, performers, and entertainers that has also secured vault space for lodging. Finally, the Member Resource Division (会员资源司 — Huìyuán zīyuán sī) manages the Company’s treasury, inventory, and requisitions, and acts as a governing body over the other divisions.
