The Master
Qephubuoli, known to the illithids as the Master, was a sapphire dragon fused with an ancient Elder Brain, and for untold millennia the hidden power behind the mind flayers of Rolaraspace. It sided with the malevolent echo of Ketenem during the Draconian Incursions and was killed in about 1525 PE by the Starfinders, aided by the renegade mind flayer Draozzizaussk, in a spelljammer battle at the Moon.
History
Nearly 1,000,000 years ago, a Pit Fiend named Scail left a sapphire dragon’s egg on the Moon for the illithids to do with as they saw fit. An ancient Elder Brain raised the hatchling and, in secret, absorbed it; over time the two fused into a single being. From that union Qephubuoli directed the machinations of the mind flayers for untold millennia, and the illithids referred to it fearfully by the title “the Master.”
When the Draconian Incursions of Ketenem’s echo threatened Rolara, Draozzizaussk, the Adversary, won the Starfinders over to an alliance with the mind flayers of Rolaraspace and entreated the illithids to join the side of Rolara. Qephubuoli instead aligned itself with Ketenem’s echo. Around the end of the Incursions, the Starfinders, with the Adversary’s help, killed it in a spelljammer battle at the Moon, its birthplace.
