Avernus Security Company is a corporate security entity operating under Zariel's command within the Nine Hells. It is a subsidiary of the Baator Conglomerate, headquartered in Avernus. Its personnel are known as Hellguard Legionnaires and its chief executive holds the title of Chief Executive Devil (CED).
Structure
The structure of Avernus Security Company is complex, with various divisions and key personnel under Zariel’s command, each playing a vital role in the company’s infernal operations.
Soul Acquisition. This division is responsible for obtaining souls to fuel the company’s operations and bolster its influence in the Nine Hells. Led by the cunning and persuasive devil Harumaph, the Soul Acquisition team employs a range of tactics, from enticing mortals with tempting contracts to orchestrating elaborate schemes to secure valuable souls. Harumaph’s expertise in manipulation and negotiation made him the natural choice to oversee this essential division.
Soul Protection. Given the invaluable nature of souls, this division focuses on guarding the company’s soul repositories and preventing theft or tampering. Led by the ruthless and vigilant Krythos, Soul Protection maintains an elite team of infernal guardians and implements extensive security measures. Krythos’ exceptional tactical and combat skills are the foundation of the division’s effectiveness.
Infernal Relations. Navigating the treacherous politics of the Nine Hells requires dedicated diplomatic infrastructure. Helmed by the silver-tongued diplomat Valystra, this division liaises with other Archdevils, brokers deals with powerful entities, and conducts damage control when conflicts arise. Valystra’s charm and finesse are vital to the company’s continued political standing in the infernal realm.
Research and Development. Innovation is essential for maintaining the company’s competitive edge. Led by the ingenious and ambitious devil Mordathrax, the R&D team explores advancements in soul manipulation, infernal weaponry, and other areas of potential growth.
Each division is led by a devil handpicked by Zariel. The synergy between these divisions forms the backbone of Avernus Security Company, driving its success in the Soul economy and solidifying its influence within the Nine Hells.
Recent Operations
A squad of spined devils was dispatched under external contract to seize a tournament invitation in transit to Ahvantir, targeting the Orc pugilist Gamborgz-Morkrak. The squad attacked aboard a chartered Drow vessel crossing the Astral Sea, openly stating that the assault was meant to acquire the invitation for an unnamed infernal client. The entire squad was killed by the ship’s passengers. The contract failed, and the client never received the invitation. This represents a Conglomerate contract loss that the organization would presumably register internally.
