Deep within the verdant forests and enchanted groves of Rolara, the enigmatic Wood Elves dwell in harmony with nature, their ancient cities and villages hidden amidst magical copses of trees. As one of the most captivating and elusive playable species, the Wood Elves present a rich tapestry of culture, history, and allure for players and Dungeon Masters alike.

Originating from three distinct, yet interconnected kingdoms, these woodland dwellers hold uncountable smaller communities within their mystical realm. Long shrouded in myth and seclusion, the Wood Elves emerged into the wider world following the eruption of Mount Origin , sparking intrigue and wonder among the other races.

Renowned for their inherent grace, humor, and innate aptitude for celebration, Wood Elves effortlessly charm and entertain in any social gathering, embodying the spirit of joy and camaraderie. Among their own kind, they revel in extravagance, inspiring awe and delight in equal measure.

As descendants of the Fey, the Wood Elves hold a unique place in the annals of Rolara’s history, with some claiming they were the original elves, while others attribute this honor to their Eladrin cousins. Regardless of their origins, the Wood Elves stand as an enthralling and enigmatic playable species, beckoning players and DMs to delve deeper into their ancient traditions, magical heritage, and the bewitching secrets of the forest.

Civilization and Culture

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

Wood elves were the quintessential party goer; refined, humor-loving, entertaining, and without need for social lubricant (such as wine), a lone wood elf could easily take center stage at any gathering. Among themselves, the urge to be more extravagant, impressive, and inebriated tended to encourage rowdy partying and occasional vandalism.

Underlying this ease is a peculiar gift unique to wood elves: a wood elf can choose to feel the effects of drink at will, slipping into merry inebriation when it suits the mood, and can just as readily shrug those effects off, sobering at will and proving effectively immune to intoxication when it does not. The trick is theirs alone among the elven kindreds. It makes wood elves nearly impossible to outlast in a drinking contest, a fact that has bred long-standing and well-earned suspicion among those who have lost to them across a table, dwarves in particular.
