Aeonis is a Deva and the sole celestial servant of Continuum, the current Chronomaster. He operates from the Temporal Nexus and, like his master, exists outside the normal flow of time.

Role

As Continuum’s only aide, Aeonis bears the full weight of tasks that would ordinarily require an entire retinue. To compensate, he operates across multiple points in time simultaneously: the same Aeonis, beginning the same task from different temporal origins, working in parallel with versions of himself drawn from other moments. This is not duplication in the conventional sense but rather a consequence of his existence outside time, allowing a single being to fulfill the role of many.

Aeonis’s responsibilities include maintaining the integrity of Rolara’s timeline, intervening in temporal anomalies, and, on the rarest of occasions, interacting directly with mortals on Continuum’s behalf. Such interactions are exceedingly uncommon; most beings who encounter Aeonis have no understanding of whom he serves or why he has appeared.

Temporal Transport

Aeonis possesses the unique ability to transport beings through time. This power is not exercised lightly, as the act results in Aeonis’s destruction. Like other extraplanar beings, his death on a plane other than his own causes him to reconstitute at his home plane, the Temporal Nexus, and he has endured multiple such deaths across various timelines. Because other instances of him originate from different points in time, his destruction in one timeline does not eliminate his presence in others. The result is a paradoxical continuity: Aeonis has died many times and has not yet truly died at all.

Known Interventions

During a wild-magic surge that displaced a mortal 500 years into the past, into an era when the Stars of Power had been sealed and magic was largely inaccessible on Rolara, Continuum dispatched Aeonis to intervene. The Deva guided the displaced individual through the crisis, and as a consequence of the intervention, a rare time-affecting spell that had been lost with the extinguishment of the Stars of Power was reintroduced into the world.

Relationship to Continuum

Aeonis is not merely a subordinate but Continuum’s sole operational presence in the mortal world. Where Continuum observes and orchestrates from outside time, Aeonis acts. The relationship is one of absolute trust born of necessity: there is no other servant, no backup, no delegation beyond the two of them.
