The Eternal Archives are the administrative center of the Temporal Nexus and the personal office of Continuum, the current Chronomaster. Located at the heart of the Nexus, the Archives serve as the nucleus from which all threads of time are monitored, recorded, and maintained.
Structure
The Archives present as a vast, vaulted expanse filled with an apparently endless array of hourglasses, each one corresponding to a specific chronicle of moments. The hourglasses vary dramatically in scale: some are no larger than pebbles, encapsulating fleeting instants, while others are colossal structures marking the passage of eons. Every event in the cosmos, from cataclysms to minor occurrences, reportedly has its reflection in one of these hourglasses. The constant movement of sand within them represents the progression of moments from future into past.
The Archives are austere rather than ornate. Unlike the domains of many deities, Continuum’s seat of power reflects the unyielding and impersonal nature of time itself rather than any display of divine grandeur.
Administration
Despite the vastness of the Archives, their maintenance falls to a single servant. Aeonis, Continuum’s sole celestial aide, is responsible for scrutinizing and recording the state of every hourglass. Because Aeonis exists outside of time, he compensates for the workload by operating across multiple points in time simultaneously, beginning the same task from different temporal origins. The result is a space that appears busy with activity, populated by what seem to be multiple attendants but are in fact the same Deva working in parallel with versions of himself drawn from other moments.
Every shift in the cosmic balance, every deviation in a timeline’s trajectory, is noted and analyzed. The resulting records form an effectively infinite library of temporal history: a repository of past, present, and projected future that constitutes the most comprehensive chronicle of existence in Rolara’s cosmology.
Significance
The Eternal Archives represent the meticulous nature of the Chronomaster’s office. It is from this location that Continuum presides over the flow of time, maintaining awareness of every moment across the multiverse. The Archives are not merely a record; they are the instrument through which temporal anomalies are detected and the integrity of the timeline is preserved.
